August 13th, 2018

Well, today I don't have to go anywhere. I am going to work on cleaning my bedroom and clearing out my sewing area. I still have some sewing intentions to work on.

My schedule today:
1. Finish scrappy star quilt top.
2. Clean out blue box and move Christmas fabric into it.
3. Clear off cutting area, sewing table.

It is going to be hot today.

First day of retirement

August 10, 2018
Today is the first day of my retirement. There were some disappointments yesterday. I didn't get paid for my last two weeks of work because this pay period was the first pay period of the contract year and I didn't have a contract. Oh well I guess it is what it is. I did get a royal send off from the greenhouse staff with a delicious lunch.

It seems strange not to have to be somewhere today. Now if I can just get myself organized and start producing art and getting in some writing time each day. Just need to remember to blog each day.

I bought myself a retirement present, a Babylock Jazz. I have lusted after this machine since it came out but it was just too expensive. It finally was on sale for $599, half of the price at Carols. I haven't set it up yet because I don't have room, but hopefully by the end of today I will have space.

Today it is my intention to:
1. Clean my bedroom.
2. Finish scrappy star quilt top.
3. Bead one hour on Jill's moccasins.
4. Quilt 4 hours on Ryan's quilt.

Whitney

February was a challenging month for me, but March is even worse. Last night my beautiful granddaughter, Whitney, chose to return to the Creator. My heart is broken and I don't know how to put it together again. Whitney's spirit chose to come into our family and make a human journey. She was beautiful in all ways. She was intelligent, talented and loved all creation. She was born with lymphedema, but she was more conscious of her disability than those around her because she was friendly and exuded love.
We don't know what demons pursued her and we probably never will know, but blaming and anger have no place in our lives right now. What we do and say over the next 4 days will follow us the rest of our lives. I love you Whitney Nikia Neiss.

February 4th 2018

Yesterday was a good day. I worked on getting my room organized, threw away some old stuff and found some things I was looking for. Today I am going to work on cleaning my sewing area and finding places for odds and ends. I need some storage space or I need to sew really fast to use up some of my fabric.

SAMMIE made me chicken enchilada, which was delicious! It is one of my favorite meals. She made a homemade German Chocolate cake. I love German Chocolate cake.

It is my intention to finish Ryan's quilt this week. My plan is to work at least two hours a night on quilting. I also want to work on some beadwork projects.

Today is my 71st birthday. I am going to try to reorganize my space and set some goals for myself. I have so much "stuff" that I am overwhelmed and paralyzed. There are so many things I want to accomplish that I don't know where to start. I need to think about what I really want to do, then blog about it.
